I. KUFS Yahoo List Serve Rules

1. General Explanation of Expectations for KUFS Yahoo List

Kentucky Underground Fetish Society is an active group based in Lexington, Kentucky, which provides social and educational opportunities. There are 2 get-togethers that KUFS hosts monthly, which are open to the BDSM community and we encourage all to attend.

1) KUFS Mid Month Munch is held on the second Wednesday of each month,

2) KUFS End Month Munches are held on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Munches are a very informal and comfortable social gathering of like-minded people. They are friendly and welcoming and it is a great opportunity to meet other kinky people in your area. It also allows people to forge new friendships and make acquaintances with others that will help your growth and journey in the lifestyle.

KUFS also hosts Educational Events that will be posted on the website: http://www.KUFS.org when information becomes available.

KUFS sponsors a List serve on Yahoo within the group’s portion of the Yahoo Domain. This list serve is associated with KUFS and will be kept within the general guidelines of rules for the active group. This basically means that if you violate the rules of the list serve, you have violated the rules of KUFS. Our Yahoo group also subject to the TOS – Terms of Service of Yahoo! Group Rules and all must abide by them. http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

Because we are listed under the Adult Yahoo Groups, you must be at least 18 years of age or older to join and be a member of KUFS.

The Yahoo list serve is an active venue for persons involved in the BDSM lifestyle to communicate and discuss items of common interest. It is also a place for people within the community to become familiar with one another and for friendships to develop and grow. This list serve will also be a place to acquire knowledge of future events. Rules must be in place for this list to serve the community to the best of it’s ability and also to keep some form of consistency and policy in effect to keep the list members within the guidelines for using the KUFS list serve.

2. General Rules

This list serve is a friendly place and the rules will reflect the intention of maintaining that atmosphere. Members are expected to follow all rules set forth in this section. All new members will be moderated until posting a minimum of three (3) posts.

Areas that will get you Moderated on the KUFS list serve:

1. Not respecting a request from the list Moderators.
2. Cross Posting without permission. (see section 3 for policy)
3. Unnecessary arguing of any form.
4. ‘Outing’ any member or the use of real names when permission is not given by the individual.
5. ISO – In Search Of postings.

Moderation is intended to prevent issues of a personal nature from being aired on the open list. If the list Moderator requests that a thread be dropped, stopped, or taken private and you refuse to do so, you will be warned and/or moderated.

Arguing is going to happen when a point is being made or a topic is being discussed. Reasonable debating is common and acceptable. The continuing of a subject that may have turned to an argument after the thread has been asked to cease will result in moderation of the member in violation.

Outing of any individual, with regards to using a member’s real name or giving any personal information in an open forum like this list serve will be reason for being moderated and/or removed from this group.

ISO – In Search Of partners or ‘Seeking’ advertisements are not permitted on the open list. All ads are to be placed in the Files section under Personal Ads.

We talk about our kinks and fetishes here and sometimes one person’s kink may be considered extreme by one and not by another. This does not make that kink or fetish insane or unsafe. Basically, consent is outlined in the general realm of BDSM and the individual may agree or disagree with one’s definition. The items forbidden to address are as follows:

1. Bestiality
2. Pedophilia
3. Non-Consensual Abuse of a Person or Practices

3. Cross Posting Policy

Cross Posting of any event is limited to 2 posts per event. Any group can request to be allowed to post additional announcements. Approval must be requested in writing by emailing the board at board@kufs.org. The definition of an event is any munch, meeting, class, National Convention or gathering relating to BDSM and/or other Alternative Pansexual Lifestyles.

Cross Posting of private emails without the approval and consent of the individuals included in such emails is prohibited and is reason for removal from the KUFS list.

Cross Posting a post from another list in order to make a point or shed light on the topic is permitted unless otherwise stated.

4. Removal Policy

The list Owners and or Board of Directors of KUFS has the power to remove any member and will enforce that authority if need be. All actions in regards to removal will be handled in a private manner.

Violations that will enforce REMOVAL from the KUFS Yahoo List Serve:

1. Flaming of another member or individual who is a member of the< community but may not be on this list serve.
2. Intentional use of private information to out or flame an individual who is a member of this list or any other BDSM list in the region.
3. Any act that is considered outside the realm of consent.
4. Posting false information of any kind.
5. Using other lists to post personal information of any member of this list serve without the approval of the individual.
6. Using other lists to flame another is not acceptable in the eyes of the list owners and we reserve the right to moderate or remove any individual that violates this rule. This is a prevention measure to insure that you will not do the same here.
7. Spamming – Using this list to advertise your porno site. KUFS members may place a business ad in the Links section only.

5. Definitions

SPAM:

Function: noun
Etymology: From a skit on the British television series, Monty Python’s Flying Circus in which chanting of the word spam (trademark for a canned meat product) overrides the other dialogue. Date: 1994.
Unsolicited E-mail (usually commercial) sent to a large (mass) number of addresses.

OUTING:

Function: verb
Any form of communication between persons or in public that divulges the private information of another.

FLAMING:

Negative, personal comments made to be hurtful and disrespectful.

CONSENT:

Function: noun
Approval of what is done or proposed by another.
An agreement as to an action or opinion.

II. Protecting Your Privacy Through Your Email Account Settings

Many of our members are not comfortable with using their full legal name when they post the KUFS Yahoo eGroup.  But sometime users can unintentionally "out" themselves by unknowingly including their first and last names in their outgoing emails.  This because of a misunderstanding about how the setting for their email accounts work.

For example, in these screen shots, a woman named Beverly Quince is selecting "princess_boup_coup" for her user id and is entering her real name in her new hotmail account:

Whenever she posts to a mailing list or sends a private email, her real name appears in the "From" field.

Before you start posting or sending emails, you might want to send yourself a test message to be sure that your vanilla name does not appear in the "From" field.
